Welcome to the GAIA website!

GAIA is a non-profit environmental organisation that promotes and co-ordinates projects and activities that protect and conserve the natural environment - and the species which are dependent upon it. As an integral part of our activities, we seek to address the social and economic issues that lie at the heart of so many of our environmental ills.

GAIA is a 'key' and 'umbrella' organisation, so in addition to in-house projects we are also involved in partnership programmes with community groups, government departments and both national and international organisations with compatible aims and objectives.

"Sustainable Development meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs."

- 1988 United Nations 'Bruntdland Report' on Environment and Development.

To navigate your way around this site, please use the menu in the top-right of the screen. You will notice five subject areas: ‘HOME’, ‘ABOUT US’, ‘DISCUSSIONS’, ‘NETWORK’ and ‘ACTIVITIES’. As you scroll over these using your mouse you will discover that sub-sections become available. Simple click on the sub-section that interests you and press the left-hand mouse button.

To return to the Index page (the one with the ‘Henge’ logo) simply select ‘HOME’ at any time, and to return to this page select ‘ABOUT US’ at any time.

In order that we might provide relevant information, and offer as good a service as we are able, we would greatly appreciate it if you would take the time to visit our Guestbook (under the 'NETWORK' Section).
